Photography / Videography - How Different Focal Lengths work

Q: We know that the focal length of a lens is one factor that controls Depth of Field. But what else does is effected? A: Depending on the focal length, when taking head shots, the background can look compressed or closer to the body. Faces can also look fatter or slimmer than real life. This exercise/project involves having students break into groups and then create an animated .gif of a face filling the same camera frame, but with different focal lengths. Depending on the mood you wish to portray ... which focal length would YOU use! Materials: Camera and a variety of lenses unless you are using a zoom lens.
