Mandala Project

This is a tutorial and project I created for my beginning design students to learn symmetry, transforming objects and the duplicate commands in Adobe Illustrator. The students use Illustrator to create a symmetrical circle or a mandala. The word "mandala" is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean "circle." I have them search the internet for a mandala design they like and post it to the discussion board to learn the broad scope of mandalas. Then, I have them proceed to Illustrator to set up the file with guides. After reading the symmetry handout, they create a mandala using only basic shapes and fill the shapes with colors of their choice.
