Hi all, If anyone is using Adobe programs in Years 7, 8 or 9 with the new National Curriculum, would you mind sharing your ideas? As far as I can see, we need to have a focus on programming. I'd like to see what everyone is doing. I'm going to miss using Photoshop and the like in the Junior Secondary years. Thanks for your help!

Photography Book with inDesign - Lesson Plan Assignment by Candie Witherspoon Mar 1, 2015 Products Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop Photoshop Mix

Here is a lesson plan that I will be using for my Photography Class as their final assignment this year. I have used this assignment in the past few years but not with inDesign. I have used the free BLURB book creator desktop app that is downloadable from their website where we set up a store to print and sell extra copies of our student books as a fundraiser effort for my photography class to help offset costs for the course on things such as software renewal, photo printing paper, lighting equipment, etc. We haven't raised a lot of money, because most are usually satisfied with their one copy, but I share the link with them to give to family and friends and tell them to encourage them to buy more copies as holiday gifts and to let them know that most of the proceeds go to support our class and to keep it going. As my class photography final I make them create a book designed from their best photos that they took this year. They are required to make adjustments and manipulations to some prior to going to print, so this reinforces their learning from early in the year. I also encourage them to write about their photos, or to use their own personal poetry to go along with them, this is a great connection to English/Literature cross-curriculum requirements. I also encourage their use of smartphone Adobe apps to take some of their photos and make adjustments to them through those free apps. Thanks Adobe, for making some of your mobile apps FREE! They are a great benefit to the public education systems that do not qualify for your wonderful give-away through the government for lower income schools. Unfortunately, schools like mine cannot benefit for them because although we meet the criteria by the government for busing a large number of lower income students into our school, we cannot qualify for your program for free software through the government. It's a bit frustrating, because the schools that do qualify in our district are sending the majority of their students to us, making their class sizes excessively small, and overstaffed, and filled with students who are mostly apathetic about learning. Sorry for the rant...... It's just so frustrating that the educational system, and the teachers are blamed for the brunt of the system failure, when it is really about students attitudes about learning, behavioral problems that prevent a lot of teachers from being able to teach because they spend the majority of their day disciplining or referring students to the administrators rather than being able to teach the few who are stuck there and really do want to learn. So much for compulsory education. If we could only show them how fortunate they are compared to many countries. :(
