Create trifold brochure in InDesign

Digital Asset Published 8/22/18 Last updated on 2/28/20

This is a resource I created for my 'Design for Print' class. The tutorial is split into 3 lessons:

  • Set-up
  • Formatting text
  • Printing

I've also included a Word document with the text used in the demonstration and a link to a folder containing JPEG files of the images used and a PDF of the finished file. You can of course substitute your own assets.

The difficulty level increases with each lesson to include putting a transparent background behind text and optical alignment of text. Information on these features can be found on the Adobe InDesign site:

This tutorial uses European paper sizes and millimetres as the unit of measurement. This can be adapted to suit your own preferences.

Age Levels
1+ Day

Students will need access to a computer loaded with Adobe InDesign.

If students wish to print their final brochure, they will need access to a printer that can facilitate printing larger than A4. (Printing the brochure at the end is optional. The lesson is concerned with preparing a file for print.)
