Altered Sketchbooks

Project Published 11/30/17 Last updated on 2/28/20

I have my students create a year long sketchbook for visual ideas, and the goal is that they start to bring those ideas into the computer and use PhotoShop to alter and improve their projects. It is best to do this project in the second semester, after students have generated a lot of different project ideas to choose from. The skills that are taught with PhotoShop vary depending on the student's needs.

Students create their sketches during the first semester.

Teach students how to scan images into PhotoShop

Show students how to build with layers on top of existing drawing or collage to create a new idea, hopefully which is better than the first idea.
