UNIT 2 - DIRECTING, CINEMATOGRAPHY & AUDIO-VIDEO EDITING


COURSE BRIEF:

Quiet on the set....Action! Do you want to become the next big movie director? In Advanced Movie-Making students will be given the opportunity to explore the world of movie-making by creating movieprojects that combine cinematography, video-editing, animation, live audio, recorded audio, motion graphics, special effects, chroma-keying, time-lapse video, and portfolio development. This stand-alone ICT course is made up of the following 2 half credit ICT framework courses: Broadcast Media (BMHR35S) and Interactive Media (IMHR35S).


UNITS & ASSESSMENT:

UNIT 1 - SPECIAL EFFECTS & MOTION GRAPHICS - 35%

In the opening sequence of the unit, students will explore basic training in the field of special effects and motion graphics. Students will apply their knowledge in a series of tasks that explore each of the key areas of study. 45 hours

UNIT 2 - DIRECTING, CINEMATOGRAPHY & AUDIO-VIDEO EDITING - 35%

This unit explores the strategies and techniques used when directing movies (pre-production, production and post-production) and how to be an aware and critical of the right cinematography (composition, shot, angle and camera movement). Students will apply their critical skills in deconstructing movies and will design their own video campaign around a student identified genre video project. 45 hours

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT - 30%

For the final assessment students will create an animated short film that applies the theories and concepts explored throughout the course. The final project (with the exam) is worth 30% of the student's final grade. 20 hours
