The Design Dojo (3 years of gamification)

Assessment Published 5/22/14 Last updated on 8/8/18

For 3 years I have taught my Graphic Design 1 and 2 classes using an easy-to-employ, gamified format. All you need are: a website, a clear set of rules, a blog, and a some mastery challenges to keep it compelling (and get better work).

For the rationale, rules and format, visit:

  • Muse

    Website design without coding.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud

Creative apps and services for everyone.

  • Photoshop

Editing and compositing for photos, web and mobile app designs, 3D artwork, videos, and more.

  • Edge Animate

  • After Effects

Create motion graphics and visual effects for film, TV, video, and web.

  • Adobe Spark

Adobe Spark is an easy-to-use tool that helps you turn your ideas into compelling social graphics, web stories, and animated videos

  • Illustrator

Create beautiful vector art and illustrations.

  • InDesign

Craft elegant layouts at your desk or on the go.

Thank you for sharing. I have never gamified anything, but I might give it a try! I will read through the website and do a trial in my classroom.

When I click on the link it tells me the server cannot be found. Do you have another email that I could access this information with?

Count me as a big fan of the Design Dojo, and its Sensei, Kevin McMahon. A true classroom of the future!

Plus I love the black belt challenge. I confess to having developed a severe case of benign envy for your skills, Sensei. :)
