Chasing Mavericks Lesson (Character Comparison)

Lesson Plan Published 11/26/14 Last updated on 5/16/18

Students will dissect the quote “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” After analyzing this quote, students will compare Jay Moriarty’s successes and failures to another character/hero from any unit we have studied so far. This lesson will conclude with a student created Tellagami as the final product.

I love the Tellagami. This can be implemented in so many different ways...to do a character comparison, to create an autobiography, to narrate a writing piece, to host an interview as a character in a story or certain time period, to teach a lesson, etc. So many possibilities.
