Digital Design CS5: Graphic Design for the Web

To produce quality images for the web, students need to understand how digital images are created and then learn and apply essential graphic design principles. In this unit, students learn to create, modify, and optimize a variety of digital images. They compare image file size and quality during phases of production. Students will learn to use Adobe Fireworks CS5, Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Adobe Illustrator CS5 to create and optimize images and graphics for the web. This is the first unit in the Adobe Digital Design: Foundations of Web Design curriculum.

This unit maps to the ACA Web Communication with Dreamweaver CS5 Certification Exam objectives.

Age Levels
1+ Week
Communication and Collaboration, Research and Information Fluency, Digital Citizenship, Creativity and Innovation, Technology Operations and Concepts, Critical Thinking Problem Solving and Decision Making

To complete this project, you will need:
- Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended installed on all machines
- Adobe Illustrator CS5 installed on all machines
- Adobe Fireworks CS5 installed on all machines
- Student technical guides

I cannot locate the presentations Introduction to Graphic Design and Storyboards that are referenced on pages 23 and 24 of Activity 1.6-Planning a Logo. Also, in the Preparation section there is a reference to review the materials listed in the Backgrounds resources section.
