"Selling Pictures" - A short guide to optimising product images for eBay

Presentation Published 8/16/13 Last updated on 5/16/18

This PSD file explains how a product image could be edited for use in an eBay product listing. From an orginal image, I show the results of cropping, removing the products background, adding a new background (gradient layer) and then saving for the web to reduce file size.

I have set out the layers, so that you start with a Heading only, and then you view the next layer, to see the next step (open it, and you will see what I mean).

I envisage this to be the start of a project where Business/ICT/Media students are given a selection of poorly shot artifacts, which need to be optimized for use in an eBay listing, thus the student would have a before and after image.

I was surprised by the fact that your tutorial was in PSD. I uploaded it to see how it works. I think it is a good idea for this kind of work but also for showing an interesting way of using layers.

Great job.

Had to upload as a zip, for some reason it wouldn't take my .psd file.
