Tessellation Photoshop Collage

Project Published 6/3/15 Last updated on 6/8/17

This project introduces tessellations as a design tool and vector patterns as tools for selecting areas. Using the 'Similar' tool under the selection menu. It is useful for introducing students to Layers.

This project uses advanced search tools in Google Images to find creative commons images.

This project is an opportunity to look at tessellation, geometry and the links between art and STEMs. An research element could be to find regular (one shape) and semi-regular (two or more shapes) tessellations in traditional decorative patterns and folk art.

I have also included a link to Tangrams and have a more advanced activity that uses action scripts.

I really enjoyed your visual explanations, however, there was no sound, even when I went on Youtube to view your video. I would like to hear your tutorial.

Hello Jae, the videos are still a work in progress experiment with no sound, I'm going to put lost of captions and subtitles. Claire

Glad you like it Fred. I had a look at your Illustrator Alphabet Book Project. A great way to make learning the basics in Illustrator interesting.
