Students are shown images of contemporary collage artists. Students are given background information and definitions of the art terms: Collage, mixed-media, tradition, variety, contrast and unity. Students reflect and write about things that make them unique such as culture, language, music, food, etc. After an introduction to the various tools in Photoshop, students utilize their knowledge to create digital collages. Projects are graded based on use of the following: selection tools, type, fIlters, layers, images, symbolism, gradient(s) and opacity. They must also include an image of themselves and other items that describe or represent who they are.
