Understanding the fundamentals of teaching online is an important skill no matter where you teach: in blended, flipped, or online learning environments. This course demonstrates how to teach online and helps distance educators better understand online teaching pedagogy.
In this course we’ll introduce you to the basics of instructional design and online teaching pedagogy, and explore the basics of teaching in online learning environments. You will hear from education experts, practitioners and academics, and see many examples of how you can deliver engaging and impactful online classes.
After taking this course, you will:
- Understand the key differences between online and face-to-face teaching
- Learn ways to design online teaching lesson plans and distance learning projects, different elements of online pedagogy, and strategies to use when teaching online courses
- Understand how to build communities with your students, other teachers and parents
- Learn how to manage your students’ (and your own) digital well-being
The learning content will take approximately 3 hours and includes an assignment. By completing the assignment and marking this course as complete, you will receive a digital badge and a certificate for 3 hours of accredited professional learning in online teacher training.
