Course Overview

This free five week Graphics & Illustration course is aimed at teachers wishing to shift their understanding of graphic communication to the next level. The course focuses on core concepts of graphic design and illustration and aims to unleash the full potential of Adobe Illustrator whilst also giving participants the opportunity to hone their teaching skills by learning from our world class tutors. 

This course is part of a series of Adobe Generation Professional courses designed to help educators become creators, not just consumers, of digital media. Throughout the series, you’ll learn new tools and techniques, explore best practices for teaching and learning, and unleash your creativity to help drive student outcomes. Drop in for one or engage in many, but we guarantee this series will help you and your students take your digital skills and creativity to the next level.

By completing in this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Get started with Adobe Illustrator
  • Create outstanding graphics using Adobe Illustrator
  • Develop a skill set to create stunning illustrations.
  • Develop technical skills as well as a critical language about the craft of Graphics & Illustration.
  • Explore best practices for teaching and learning with digital media.
  • Interact with experts from the world of graphics and illustration as well as fellow educators from around the globe.

What to Expect

The course kicks off on Monday, October 31 and ends on Friday, January 6 2017. You may work at your own pace through the asynchronous content on the Exchange at any time during the course. We provide a suggested pacing to keep you on track during this intensive time period.

Each week, you will be attending a live class session (or viewing a recording). We’ve also built in time for you to catch up if you need to miss any days during the course. All work must be submitted no later than midnight UTC on January 6 2017, if you’d like to graduate and earn course credit.


Live Classes

Live class sessions will be hosted at dates and times that are to be confirmed. There will be several times to attend to live class to accommodate course participants in different time zones, or you will be able to view a recording. All live classes are hosted via Adobe Connect.


Course Timeline and Important Dates

  • Monday October 31: Course opens on the Adobe Education Exchange. Review pre-course readings and plan your participation.

  • Tuesday, November 1: Class 1

  • Tuesday, November 8: Class 2

  • Tuesday, November 15:  Class 3

  • Tuesday, November 22: Class 4

  • Tuesday, November 29: Class 5

  • Thursday, January 5 2017: Enrollment closes

  • Friday, Jan 6 2017: Course ends. Last day to submit assignments to the Education

Prerequisites

This is an introductory level course. No prior experience with is assumed but a basic knowledge of the internet and basic understanding of digital technologies will be useful.


Course Credit

We anticipate that successful completion of this course will require at minimum 25 hours of your time. After successfully completing this course, you will receive a digital credential that states that you successfully completed 25 hours of professional development. You may share this with others to demonstrate your achievement. The creation of content is a creative process so the amount of time you spend will vary.
