Adobe’s suite of creative apps make it easier than ever to communicate digitally. Explore how you can leverage these technologies to teach concepts, assess learning, and prepare your students for success as digital communicators.

This free five week Digital Storytelling course is aimed at teachers wishing to start their journey in understanding and using digital tools to create captivating digital stories, presentations, and communication.

We will explore apps such as Adobe Spark, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition, Adobe Character Animator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Premiere. We’ll cover how to make educational video and create beautiful learning resources for print and screen.

What to Expect

The course kicks off on Monday, January 9 and ends on Friday, February 24.  The orientation section of the course is already open so go ahead and start getting set up. You may work at your own pace through the asynchronous content on the Exchange at any time during the course. Live online classes will take place on Tuesdays. The first live class will be on Tuesday January 10.

We anticipate that successful completion of this course will require a minimum 25 hours of your time. After successfully completing this course, you will receive a digital credential that states that you successfully completed 25 hours of professional development.

Course Workshops
Orientation In this section you'll meet your course instructors and find out more about the content and structure.
Class 1 Class one focuses on understanding fundamental story planning concepts. We will use a mixture of graphics and images combined with audio using Adobe Spark to craft our first Digital Story.
Class 2 In Class 2, you'll focus on using Adobe Photoshop to create some inspiring and beautiful images incorporating text. We will use this collection of images and combine these in Adobe Spark Page to create an interactive storytelling experience.
Class 3 In week 3, you'll be introduced to the timeline within Adobe Photoshop and create an animated digital story told with images only, this will build on knowledge from the previous lesson. You’ll also be introduced to Adobe Character Animator.
Class 4 In class 4, you will be introduced to Adobe Audition, understanding how to record quality audio, apply effects to your recordings, import backing music and appropriate sound effects to create a compelling audio storytelling experience.
Class 5 In class 5, you will be introduced to Adobe InDesign to create an interactive storytelling experience. You’ll Learn how to use the interactive animation features, hyperlinks and buttons to create an interactive learning experience.
Achieving Accreditation This section aims to bring together everything you’ve learned so you can complete all the stages of your final project, create your final assignment. You’ll reflect on your learning in the course and celebrate the work of your peers.
