About this course

Explore the principles of graphic design and how to use Adobe creative tools to create engaging graphics and illustrations. Then learn how to apply your new digital skills to teach graphics and illustration and integrate new graphic design projects into your curriculum.

Understanding graphic helps students to better communicate ideas, emotion, and purpose through beautiful graphics and illustrations. Develop your skills in Adobe Illustrator, an industry standard graphic design tool, and learn how to teach your students the design and technical skills they need to effectively use graphics and illustrations in digital media projects.

  • How using graphics and illustration in your curriculum can produce positive outcomes for you and your students

  • Best practices and principles for creating amazing graphic designs and illustrations

  • The technical skills to create your own graphic designs and illustrations with Adobe tools (with support from expert digital media educators)

  • How to apply your new skills to integrate graphics and illustration projects into your curriculum

  • Collaborate with educators from around the world

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at all educators working in primary, secondary or higher education. No prior experience with Adobe tools or digital media technologies is required.

How long is the course?

The course runs for five weeks, starting on 12th March 2018 and should take about 25 hours to complete. All coursework must be submitted by 27th April 2018.

About Adobe Education Exchange Courses

Each week of an Education Exchange collaborative course includes:

  • Design and instructional theory content, innovative and tailored for educators

  • Interactive live class session taught by expert educators and featuring guest industry experts

  • Hands-on creative assignment with personalized feedback from instructors and other educators

  • Reflective learning journal best practice

  • Community collaboration and discussion

Live Class Information

This course will include five live classes, which take place on the following days:

  • Class 1 on Wednesday March 14th, 2018

  • Class 2 on Wednesday March 21st, 2018

  • Class 3 on Wednesday March 28th, 2018

  • Class 4 on Wednesday April 4th, 2018

  • Class 5 on Wednesday April 11th, 2018

Each class will take place three times; once in each of the following time zones:

  • AEDT (Sydney) at 7pm Classes 1 - 3 and AEST (Sydney) Classes 4 to 5

  • GMT (London) at 7pm Class 1 and 2 BST (London) Classes 3 to 5

  • CDT (Chicago) at 7pm

Orientation Meet the tutors and get oriented to the course program. Download the required software and start your learning journey.
Class 1: Introduction to Graphics and Illustration We’ll begin with design fundamentals and dive straight into creating graphic design with Adobe Illustrator.
Class 2: Dive deeper into Graphics and Illustration Develop your digital skills and apply your learning. Learn core concepts of graphic design.
Class 3: Getting to grips with Adobe Illustrator Explore innovative and engaging practices with Adobe’s digital toolset.
Class 4: Practise makes perfect Embed your new digital skills by creating digital content ready for curriculum integration.
Class 5: Applying new skills In the final week we’ll discover how to best impact your curriculum with your new skillset.
Achieving Accreditation In this section, we'll wrap up the course, complete the steps and move towards graduation. You’ll reflect on your learning during the course and celebrate the work of your peers.
