Creating personalised "Growth Mindset" digital award badges

Project Published 2/8/18 Last updated on 6/10/19

This resource demonstrates how to create your own digital badges based on Growth Mindset. Most schools in England will have spent part of the last five years thinking about how to instil a Growth Mindset in their students (and often in the staff too).

Growth what?

"To briefly sum up the findings: Individuals who believe their talents can be developed (through hard work, good strategies, and input from others) have a growth mindset. They tend to achieve more than those with a more fixed mindset (those who believe their talents are innate gifts)."

This RSA video is a great introduction or reminder:

Also this recent article (January 2018) is a good resource for teachers:

Digital Badges

I have created a couple of digital badge templates that could easily be used to personalise rewards for the development of Growth Mindsets in your classroom, in fact they could be personalised in any way to reward hard work, good grades, great homework etc.

I have used Adobe Illustrator CC to make the badges and have attached the template below. You could use this to create your own badges or even as an activity to develop key digital skills at the same time as starting a conversation about mindsets, both fixed, mixed and growth.

Watch this video tutorial to help get started:

The badge template can be downloaded here:
