Introduction to UX & UI Design

Lesson Plan Published 10/16/17 Last updated on 9/11/18

User experience (UX) design is commonly defined as the process to design experiences and interactions with a digital or physical product that is useful, easy, and enjoyable. User interface design (UI) is commonly defined as the process of designing the visual look of the product and the functionality of the interaction.

In this activity, students will be introduced to user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, the role of designers, and the design process. To reinforce UX and UI design principles, students will assess and provide analysis on the design of an existing product.

I used XD as the foundation of my Interactive Design class last spring. This guide would have been excellent for project ideas and assessments.

Great lesson plan overall. However, as a student, I have to warn that you really shouldn't call the image on the first page a 'meme' as it is referred to in the lesson plan. It just seems like a throwaway term in this context used to (hopefully) get the interest of the students, but it doesn't really have the content to be used as such. Just call it an image.
