My Windows 7 computer downloaded the file as a "Graphic" and didn't recognize what program to open it with, but had to tell it to open it with Acrobat Reader.

Great resource for high school students. We are also using the Pearson Workbook.

The time, effort and cost can be justified only when the certification is valid for at least five years. There is chance that more designers would opt to get themselves certified if apt training material is available timely with more emphasis laid on design skills rather than tool proficiency. There should also be statistics released on employ-ability of certified professionals. Only then will more professionals would invest in money and time for certifications. Especially for the professionals living in developing part of the world, the chances of opting for certifications are remote provided the cost and span of validity.

I also find that GMETRIX does not prepare my students. After going through it a couple of times they are passing with 100% - then not passing the exams. Not cool.

As a student, the gmetrix preparation guide was a complete waste of time. I studied and studied and only got 585 out of 700. Maybe better luck next time?

Lynda.com recently released a video series called "Adobe Certified Associate Prep: Illustrator." Only had time to watch the preview but it looks promising.

Downside is that you have to have a lynda.com account to watch the rest of the videos. Thankfully we do.

GMETRIX does not really prepare them. I have had students get 100% constantly on the practice tests then fail the actual ACA - Boo....

Is there a one stop solution - a preparation guide for ACA Graphic design and Illustration (Illustrator). I found it tough to go link after link to get the information only to get lost in the ocean of information. Please help. How long is this certification valid?

The ACA certification is good for three years. I can't help with the preparation guide. Like you, I've been swimming in the ocean of info and haven't found a one stop solution.

This guide does not help prepare for the test. The test is actually much harder.

Hi Adobe,

Same question with Adobe Photoshop CC; Is this study guide ready to go and WILL it prepare my high school students for the most current exam (Adobe Certified Associate Exam Voucher)? Thanks.

It's not a comprehensive practice exam and it doesn't include complete preparation materials. This is meant to go along with the Adobe Visual Design curriculum and aid in preparation for the exam. But mostly it's helpful to understand what the exam is like and what to expect.

Hi Laurie

This is just an exam preparation guide. If you want to sign up for an exam and get a code you will need to here to find a testing center near you.

Cheers,

The real test is much more difficult than the practice exams my students used through GMetrix.

As a student I took it today after praticing with gmetrix for the past month and I must say I 100% agree with you, I unfortunately failed it with a 600 :(

This is what I have been looking for. My students have just taken the practice exam. Most did great! This will help fill in any gaps. Does anyone know what the passing grade is on the ACA exam?

You MUST score 700 out of 1000.
