Positive Negative Space and Notan!

This set of assignments is part of a series of projects related to the elements and principles of Art and Design. The Expanded Shapes assignment focuses on Positive-Negative space, implied Line and Symmetrical, Reverse Symmetrical and Radial Balance. Students refine their pen tool skills, examine the reflect and duplication tools while also developing an eye for negative space. Positive and Negative space rely on one another, one doesn't exist without the other.

This is part of a sequential series of projects guiding students through the Elements and Principles of Art and Design or the Art Components. Students are not totally new to Adobe Illustrator when they tackle this Expanded Shapes series. They have examined Line making tools, and explored simple Figure-Ground Reversals.
