Digital Media & Learning: Photo Essays
Learn how digital media experiences can deepen student understanding of subject-area content, encourage critical thinking, and develop textual, aural, and visual literacies. Explore strategies for helping students analyze the purpose and context of images and understand how to communicate effectively and ethically with images. In addition, use Adobe Photoshop to create your own photo essay and plan a photo essay activity for your students.
In this workshop, you’ll accomplish the following:
- Understand how digital media experiences can enhance student learning.
- Explore strategies for helping students think critically about images.
- Learn the characteristics of effective photo elements and explore photo essays.
- Learn or expand your skills with Photoshop by creating your own photo essay.
Prior experience with Adobe Photoshop may be helpful but is not assumed.
