How are your non design teachers using the Adobe Suite?

Hi All,

I am really interested in seeing how all of your non design/art teachers are dipping their toes into the Adobe space beyond Spark. How would you expect a teacher to begin using the creative suite.

​I agree with Chris, Adobe products allows flexibility for students to showcase their knowledge and understanding.

There are probably quite a few ways that CS can be used across the curriculum, although the power of the tools (and hence the accompanying complexity) can become a challenge for teachers who have a limited amount of time to dedicate to digital product creation in their often crowded curriculums.

I guess the obvious one would be video production as creating video has so many applications in all learning areas. The new Premiere Rush is pretty easy to use and has some really fast workflows, and for those students who need it, they can open a Rush project in Premiere Pro and continue working on it if they want to get more serious. There are so many creative opportunities with video production, and once students learn the skills of how to use these tools they can apply them in so many areas. Add in some After Effects, and a good grasp of Media Encoder and they have some pretty powerful video production tools at their disposal.

Another tool that could have some good uses in many subject areas might be Character Animator. It's a very easy to create real-time animations that get characters to mimic the facial expressions and actions of the student and produce some fun results that could be used in many classes. There are a bunch of templated characters that are easy to modify, but also once they understand how it works they can use Photoshop to make their own.

Audition is great for audio production, especially podcasts. Useful in any class situation.

Dimension CC could also have some neat uses in terms of packaging design. I know that's a design thing, which is not what you asked for, but could have good uses in English for example.

Obviously students could also use Photoshop or Illustrator or InDesign to make posters, cards, infographics, etc, but for the average classroom teacher, they will probably get to a faster, nicer result with much less effort using the Spark tools. That's really the point of Spark of course, to get to an end product as simply and painlessly as possible with no really need for training in how to use the products.

As always, it's a case of "with great power comes great responsibility"... the CS tools can do a LOT, but they have a much steeper learning curve. But once you get past that learning curve, wow, there's so many possibilities.
