Creativity and the Arts as a Catalyst for Change
After years of being relegated to “nice to have” status, the arts are now recognized as both a vital component of a complete education and a strategic tool for targeting a wide range of school challenges and opportunities.
How are you using creativity and the arts as a catalyst for change in your classroom and/or your school? What do you see as the key opportunities? What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?
If you're going to SXSWedu 2016, join a group of talented educators and advocates for art education to hear examples of how the arts are having an impact on school-wide issues like attendance and parent engagement, as well as the issues students face like building self-confidence and addressing conflict.
Speakers: Robert Hoang - Art Instructor, Hayward Unified School District; Sherri Kushner - Media Arts Teacher/Adobe Education Leader, Chute Middle School; Malissa Shriver - Executive Director, Turnaround Arts: California.
Date and time: Monday, March 7, 2016; 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM CST
