What software are you using to monitor computers in a lab environment? I like to walk around from time to time, but hovering around behind someone while they are at the computer is not fair. I used to have a desktop lab management program - can't remember the name of it. I am in a new school and I need a way to see my students' monitors from my computer. Help!

Our school uses Lanschool, I like being able to use it as a collaborative tool as well as monitoring.

For PC platform SynchronEyes and for Mac platform Apple Remote Desktop are both great. For virtual environments VMware manages and monitors labs. I would suggest it be implemented in a smaller setting verses a whole district.

We use ABTutor in a PC environment. I've been using it for a few years and have no complaints - in addition to monitoring, you can open a chat session, lock one/all screens, share screens, remotely shutdown machines and block individual applications or protocols.

There is also Lan School,, and it works in a very similar fashion as NetOP. They charge by the classroom and not via a per machine yearly subscription.

We have Macs and use ARD Apple Remote Desktop...I love it and have been using it for quite some time...My students think I am 'magic'.

Our school is mostly Widows based and we use Faronics Insight - - it works successfully in some classes, not so well in others. Really depends on the teacher, etc.
