Common Sense Media

I have been using the online lessons from Common Sense Media for grade 6, 7, 8 with the topics cyberbullying, copyright, scams and digital citizenship amongst other activities. My students were really engaged at the start of each lesson but as they were progressing there was a lot of repetition in the structure of the activities in Common Sense Media. Has anyone experienced the same issue? I think they should provide with more creative activities linking them with media projects such as photoshop, illustrator or indesign when schools work with Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Photoshop

Editing and compositing for photos, web and mobile app designs, 3D artwork, videos, and more.

  • Illustrator

Create beautiful vector art and illustrations.

  • InDesign

Craft elegant layouts at your desk or on the go.

We have used the site too. We actually asked students to create their own cyber smart resources for Middle Primary. They created videos using Premiere Pro with what they learnt from the online Common Sense lessons. We let them use a variety of sites and they chose which was more engaging for them. Worked well. They also used Photoshop to create titles for their videos.

Thank you Matt. I think it's a good idea to create videos using Premier Pro when learning the concepts from Common Sense Media.
