Digital Design: Foundations of Web Design

Digital Design is a project-based curriculum that develops key digital communication skills such as design, project management, research and communication, and web planning, design and development technical skills using Adobe tools.

Digital Design can be used in web design and development education or in more general career and technical education. Each project builds on lessons learned previously and contains an instructor guide (with learning objectives, step-by-step teaching instructions, assessment rubric, and details on alignment to the Adobe Certified Associate exams) and a series of activities to teach students. Activities include student technical guides, worksheets, and best practice guides. Utilize the entire curriculum, individual projects, or individual activities to adapt this content to your course.

Introduction

Digital Design Introduction

Project 1: Web design basics

In this project, students are introduced to web design principles, HTML, and CSS. They use these new skills to create a web page. Students also learn about the phases of web production and about publishing web projects.

Project 2: Web design & planning

In this project, student teams begin work on a project to build a website for a client. They complete the define, structure, and design phases of the web project production process. Students create wireframes, design comps, storyboards, and a web site prototype.

Project 3: Web development & deployment

In this project, student teams use their client-approved design documents for the technical build of a website. They complete the build, test, and launch phases of the web project production process.

Project 4: Portfolios

In this project, students create a portfolio of their work and explore career opportunities in the web design and development fields.
