Fab 5 - Multi Page App Design

Posted on Jul 16, 2014 by laurie doran Last Activity on Jul 16, 2014

The lesson plan is for a basic multi page app, since my knowledge base in code is limited (but rapidly expanding). Student will create a Fab 5b collection, five of their favorite artist, books, musicians, etc. The app would include info on each an image and a review resource. These would be stand alone collections. If I was a more savvy app designer I would like to create an app where students could curate content. Search the web for information, and images that have connection and bring it back to the app to edit, organize and store. A combination of Pinterest and old cash trading cards. I would like students to be able to eventually curate digital art exhibitions, connecting work by topic, media, etc. I see this lesson as a baby step to that goal.

Introduction to App Development Week 1

Posted on Jun 29, 2014 by Trevor Milevskiy Last Activity on Jun 29, 2014

This is a series of lesson to introduce the Year 10 students to the development of Apps. All the students have previously completed Code Academy and have developed web pages so they should be familiar with HTML code. As part of their Code work each student has created a Code Booklet into which they write definitions of code that they need to remember. This Code Booklet will be added to during the App development process and it forms part of the evaluation for the Unit. All materials are in the word document. I am looking forward to doing this with the Year 10 students this year and hopefully they will develop some great Apps which will be published.

MyFirstApp - a cross-curricular lesson plan

Posted on Jun 28, 2014 by Shona Hall Last Activity on Aug 30, 2014

A 60-minute lesson in which students use a pre-built Brackets template to create a simple information-based App. This lesson does not require any in-depth knowledge of coding; the students simply alter button names and add their information to paragraphs and unordered lists. The purpose of the lesson is so that students can learn about alternative ways of presenting information and in the process integrate some current ICT into their work.

Generation Professional - App Design - What if we DIDNT use jQueryMobile?

Posted on Jun 15, 2014 by Steve Lancaster Last Activity on Jun 15, 2014

A short video that attempts to dispel the believe that a boiler framework is "Required" for app design - But SURE DOES make it easier! In this video, I go the long way to show a SIMILAR means of creating an app interface without using javascript AT ALL. Why? To help people concerned about their jQuery understanding to realise it WONT stop them from creating a web app. Once you've see this resource, it might help you see you can take your time and learn jQueryMobile at your own pace, one you know you can.
