SkoStock Photos | Golden Gate in Fog

Posted on Feb 26, 2015 by Mike Skocko Last Activity on Feb 26, 2015

38 unprocessed high-res photos converted to max quality JPGs from Raw originals. Free to use for education purposes. No attribution necessary. I have over 30K digital photos to sort in the months to come and I thought others might find value in free imperfect stock photography. Lots of opportunities to teach straighten, crop, enhance, sharpen, etc. (I'm not the world's greatest photographer.) I'll continue sorting and selecting images that are (hopefully) of potential value.  Golden Gate in Fog Photos

ZIM! Revisited

Posted on Feb 23, 2015 by Mike Skocko Last Activity on Feb 23, 2015

The Zone of Intrinsic Motivation explained in six minutes. I recorded the video as a ZIM! refresher for my students. It's not a polished video by any means but I thought others might find it of value so I'm sharing it here as well. ZIM! in six minutes (6:06 actually) The ZIM! Venn diagram was inspired by Budd Caddell's How to be Happy in Business Venn on http://whatconsumesme.com and was repurposed with his permission.* Thanks, Bud!  *The page is currently a 404. Here's a copy of Bud's original Venn.

Introduction to Adobe Captivate

Posted on Feb 22, 2015 by Mark DuBois Last Activity on Feb 22, 2015

I created this video presentation on the fundamentals of Adobe Captivate for the Train the Trainer course. This was developed to introduce Adobe Captivate to teachers at any grade level who might want to learn more about this tool (and how it can be employed in their classes).  I thought others might benefit from this as well. I realize it is a bit long (but there are lots of things you can do with Adobe Captivate).

Adobe Fixel

Posted on Feb 19, 2015 by Mark DuBois Last Activity on Feb 19, 2015

Although this is a product from Adobe Labs, I thought others might be interested in this app. I think it shows what one can do using an iPad for manipulation of photos. I provide a brief overview in the web link. I had to choose a product (and Fixel is not on the list - hence Adobe AIR).

Free Sound Effects and Music

Posted on Feb 19, 2015 by Kev Lavery Last Activity on Feb 20, 2015

I have mentioned this in a comment on another post but figured I'd put it up here in case anyone doesn't know how to unlock this amazing part of the Adobe suite.  Adobe Audition (and Adobe programs in general) is packaged with heaps (thousands) of royalty free sounds. You simply need to download them and unzip them and you can import them into Audition, Premiere, Flash, etc. There are heaps and heaps of really well recorded and specific sound effects that you will never be lost for sound. My personal favourite is "Human Chew Banana". This is the link.   If that link doesn't work here is the URL that you can copy into your browser: http://offers.adobe.com/en/na/audition/offers/audition_dlc.html

Posted on Feb 18, 2015 by Tommy Bonté Last Activity on Feb 18, 2015

This is a fully printable (int. A4/A3 booklet) brochure explaining the blending modes in Photoshop CC. I used the X-rite ColorChecker24 as a base color layer to visualize what kind of outcome could be expected from different kinds of colors blended with a image in the top layer.

Creative Digital Photography

Posted on Feb 17, 2015 by Ross Wallis Last Activity on Feb 18, 2015

This is a slide show presentation of work by my students and myself, mostly using smartphones and tablet computers. There is an extraordinary revolution happening in photography, perhaps the biggest upheaval since it's invention two centuries ago. If I had asked my class 10 years ago how many had a camera, I might have had a few raised hands. Now everyone will have a camera, and they will have it with them all the time. Combining a pretty decent camera with a very powerful computer and some amazingly creative apps, this has simply got to be revolutionary. Click here for the presentation.

Adobe PaintCan app

Posted on Feb 15, 2015 by Mark DuBois Last Activity on Feb 15, 2015

Adobe recently released an app for iPads called PaintCan. I put together a brief overview of the app. For those using iPads in their classro9oms, I think you (and your students) might find this a fun way to turn a photo into a painting. Had to select a product and PaintCan is too new to be in the list. Sigh.

How to use the brush tool

Posted on Feb 12, 2015 by Tommy Bonté Last Activity on Feb 16, 2015

This is a fully printable (int. A4/A3) brochure covering most of the brush settings inside Photoshop CC. You learn from scratch how to use, create and fulfill your purpose of using a brush. I´m no senior in this tutorial-guide-landscape, but I´ve worked my *ss off (honestly I think I had a moment where I couldn´t feel my *ss), to fit as much as possible into this tutorial without make anyone fall asleep. Comments are therefore highly appriciated, and I will probably haft to redo this sometimes to correct language and other stuff.

Adobe resources that map to the Australian Curriculum

Posted on Feb 10, 2015 by Tim Kitchen Last Activity on Feb 11, 2015

Adobe and the Australian Curriculum The Australian Curriculum is being developed by ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority - http://www.acara.edu.au) as a nation wide curriculum framework for all Australian States and Territories. It began to be implemented in 2013 and continues to be developed and implemented throughout the country. The Australian Curriculum is based on the Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians (2008) which emphasises the importance of knowledge, skills and understandings of learning areas, general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities as the basis for a curriculum designed to support 21st century learning. The goals of the Melbourne Declaration were that all young people in Australia should be supported to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens. https://www.education.gov.au/melbourne-declaration-educational-goals-young-people The Melbourne Declaration...
