Drum Machine

Posted on May 11, 2015 by Kev Lavery Last Activity on May 11, 2015

The HTML 5 Drum Machine is (as the name suggests) an online drum machine. With a range of different drum sounds (crashes, snares, kicks, etc.), drumkits (Hip Hop, Electro, Acoustic, Techno, House) and editable volumes and tones it is great for composing across a range of tempos and styles.  Beats can be exported as WAV files which can then be imported into Adobe Audition as drum tracks. It takes a little bit of playing around with to get the hang of it but it is well worth the small investment in time.

Identifying Minerals

Posted on Apr 29, 2015 by Brian Dawson Last Activity on Apr 29, 2015

These two interactive Edge Animate files are designed to help elementary students understand some of the different properties of minerals.  The Mohs' Hardness test encourages them to compare and contrast the different hardness of minerals as they are placed on a scale from 1-10 as determined by the German mineralogist, Frederich Mohs in 1812.  The scratch test compares the relative hardness of the mineral to a standard plate. The attached packages contain the .oam animate_package, the iBooks widget, and the files needed to run the animation through a web browser.   These animations, and many other interactive animations are in my latest iBook "Minerals" now on the bookstore.
